A nine-day walk will retrace the steps of Irish regiments who were a part of the BEF in Belgium 1914.

Organised by the Belfast branch of the Army Benevolent Fund, the walk will involve teenagers and wounded soldiers from Northern Ireland and Ireland will walk the retreat from Mons.

Called 'Walking with Angels', the walk will retrace the steps taken by Irish regiments in the British Expeditionary Force that were attacked by an overwhelming German force in Belgium in 1914.  Although the Force was heavily outnumbered and defeated, the troops were praised for their bravery and many survived because, so says the legend, the 'Angel of Mons' protected them.  The walk will take place in 2014 to commemorate the soldiers that came from both Northern and Southern Irish regiments.
