The War and Displacement Research Network is based at Plymouth University, England. Its focus is studying the issue of displacement relating to warfare in the twentieth century.

The Network describes itself as “multidisciplinary” and that a particular area of interest is “researching and understanding the different types of displacements caused and aggravated by war including, but not limited to, physical, cultural, psychological and gender displacement with particular focus on the global wars of the twentieth century”.

An important area of study for the Network is “the impact of WW1 and WW2 on for example prisoners-of-war, civilians and other military personnel in relation to the global nature of the conflict”.

The Network aims to publish a series of edited books as the culmination of their research, entitled: ‘Displacement in the Twentieth Century: Global Conflicts’.

In the autumn of 2014, the War and Displacement Research Network conference will mark the Centenary of the First World War.
