London's Cenotaph under restoration in preparation for First World War Centenary

English Heritage has announced that it is restoring the Cenotaph in London in preparation for the Centenary of the First World War next year.

The Cenotaph in Whitehall, unveiled by King George V in 1920, serves as a focal point for remembrance services in Britain, and is expected to do so throughout the Centenary period.

English Heritage has also announced five new grants amounting to £60,000, for a number of war memorial restoration projects.
