Auckland Council Plans World War One Commemorations

Auckland Council will lead a series of commemorative events to mark the 2014-18 period. This will include several intiatives based in Auckland and around New Zealand. The Recreation and Heritage Forum is reported to have first made plans to create a political steering group for the project. The group would include local councillors, board members and an independent Maori representative.

Activities being considered include a World War One heritage trail to highlight areas of paritcular significance.
